1. Opal believes that life is like a Littmus Lozenge – that it’s sweet and sad all mixed up together and hard to separate out. Do you agree? Why or why not?
I agree that the life of Littmus Lozenge is sweet and sad all mixed up together and hard to separate out because in real life, there is always good and bad things happen to you. For example, Littmus Lozenge has been through many circumstances like being hungry, Yankees burnt his house, and his family died. However, good things happen to him like he can protect his country and found a place to produce candy. As you can see that it is very hard to separate it because life is all mixed of those.
2. When Winn-Dixie is missing after the thunderstorm, Gloria Dump says to Opal, “There ain’t no way you can hold on to something that wants to go, you understand? You can only love what you got while you got it.” What do you think Gloria means? Do you agree with her thought? Why or why not?
When Winn-Dixie is missing after the thunderstorm, Gloria dump says to Opal, “There ain’t no way you can hold on to something that wants to go, you understand? You can only love what you got while you got it.” I think Gloria means that we can’t control everything. If it wants to go, just let it go because no matter how hard we try to stop it, it still want to go. So, that leads us to appreciate what we have while we got it.

3. What does the title Because of Winn-Dixie mean to you?
For me, the title Because of Winn-Dixie means basically that everything happen in this story is because of Winn-Dixie. For example, Opal will not meet with Gloria Dump if there is no Winn-Dixie in this story. During that time, Winn-Dixie goes to Gloria’s garden, that is when they meet with each other and build up their relationship.
4. At the end of the story, Opal seems to accept that her mother is not coming back. Why is this an important part of the story? What is something difficult in your life that you’ve had to accept?
At the end of the story, Opal seems to accept that her mother is not coming back. This is an important of the story because now she is no longer miss her mother a lot like before because her heart is not empty anymore. Due to people around her like Franny or Gloria dump, now she feels that she makes a lot of friendship.

Something that is difficult in my life that I have had to accept is being in High School at Liger. Nowaday, I have to accept that there is a lot of situation that I have to overcome. For example, I have to cook and do a ton of homeworks. Sometimes, I feel like life is too hard for me. However, being a Liger student is like that, so I have to find ways to overcome it.
