Pygmalion is a play that reflects the life of an independent British girl named Eliza that live in a poor condition and sell flowers on the street to get money. One day, professor Higgins comes and listens to her Cockney accent and write down some words that she uses. He offers something to Eliza. He can teach her how to speak English properly and she will become a lady that everyone will employ her. She goes to his office to talk about how much does it cost. After that, he says that in six months, she will become a lady and her English will be way better than this. She lives in his house, get dress and learn English everyday. This impetuous, careless, selfish man never view her as other things rather than a flower girl. After six months, everyone amaze with her English and how she behaves in public. Finally, she decides to leave Higgins’ house because she wants to be independent, not relying on him. Moreover, she doesn’t like his behavior at all.
In our literacy class, sometimes our teacher read to us and we listen to how she pronounces, but most important thing is reading with expression.
